Each quilt I create is a unique piece, combining premium cotton fabrics with treasures found at thrift stores and gifted by friends near and far. My work is inspired by the incredible Gee’s Bend quilters and the art of improvisational quilting.
I love to switch between scissors and a rotary cutter, often working without precise measurements. My process starts with selecting a color palette, and from there, the design unfolds organically.
I curate a mix of fabrics, pulling in scraps from previous projects and different textures and patterns. It becomes an improvisational dialogue—sewing, stepping back to the design wall, and then back to the machine again.
Once the quilt top is complete, I pair it with a coordinating backing and layer it with cotton batting. I finish by quilting it with straight lines of cotton thread and adding a handmade binding.
I enjoy photographing my quilts with my family at the beautiful salt marshes near our home, capturing the spirit of our surroundings.
