Paintings and Drawings
(2014-2016)
This collection of paintings and drawings, created between 2014 and 2016, reflects a deep, ongoing dialogue with my body of print work. Each piece captures the essence of my artistic journey, showcasing the interplay between the intricate processes of printmaking and the immediacy of painting.
Creating a print is a labor-intensive endeavor, requiring a careful, multi-step approach to achieve the final image. In contrast, my painting process embraces spontaneity and instinct. I often work in layers—starting with gesso, applying paint, redacting, and sanding, then adding even more layers. Alternatively, I might pour stains directly onto paper, allowing the materials to interact and evolve organically. Both methods feel like enchanting rituals, and I find immense joy in the act of creation.
I dream of one day translating these vibrant paintings into repeatable fabric patterns, using them to craft quilts that embody the spirit of my artistic vision. This aspiration not only fuels my creative process but also connects my two passions—painting and quilting—into a cohesive narrative.
