These paintings and drawings span the years of 2014-2016. They are the product of an ongoing, years long dialogue with my print body of work. Making a print is a labor intensive, multi-stepped, series of events in order to arrive at a final image. The painting is an immediate act. I approach the painting with layers of paint, gesso, redaction, sanding, and more layers of paint. Or, I paint in the exact opposite manner by pouring stains directly onto paper and letting it cure. Both methods of drawing with paint are magical creative spells for me and I derive much pleasure in making these works. I dream of one day turning my paintings into repeatable fabrics to build my quilts from.
